Tuning a snowboard is as individual as building a custom bike. It is usually more difficult the first time, because of inconsistencies in the base and edges. However, once the board is tuned to a rider’s style, the process becomes much easier. Most of the following visits will only require a brief sharpen and wax.
Rarely is a snowboard properly tuned straight off the shelf. The base is usually high relative to the edges, and in some cases, the center is low. Changing the edge by one degree can dramatically change the shape of the turning arc. It is critical to remove all burs from the edges to maximize the life of the tune. These details are impossible to perform on a ski tuning machine.
